Developing of the Oil and Gas Strategic Environment Assessment in Albertine

The Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA) of oil and gas activities in the Albertine Graben of Uganda presents strategic recommendations for policies, plans, and programmes that will guide environment planning and decision making in the Albertine.

The SEA presents a unique opportunity for the country to systematically address environment management issues pertaining to oil and gas activities in the Albertine Graben in the context of sustainable development.

The SEA was developed through the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) through its Petroleum Exploration and Production Department (PEPD) and coordinated by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

The Norwegian Government provided financial support and technical backstopping. Throughout the SEA process, geo-information was used.
